The skill development shooting courses at Target Shooting Solutions require prior formal training to participate. Interested participants should have the appropriate foundational skills as well as advanced competency with the firearm system. The following training courses have specific objectives outside of the scope of standard firearms training.  Also, keep an eye out for special featured courses and events as well!

SKILL DEVELOPMENT & SPECIAL FEATURED COURSES / EVENTS

NATIONAL SHOOTING SPORTS FOUNDATION (NSSF) 2ND SHOTS

NSSF 2nd Shots is the follow up course to NSSF 1st Shots.  This is a 1.5 hour class. The first 30 minutes will be spent in the classroom reviewing safety fundamentals taught in NSSF 1st Shots. The remaining hour will be spent on the range to continue practicing.  We will focus more on maintaining proper grip, stance, sight picture and trigger control.  We will also work on areas that you might be having trouble with to ensure you develop solid muscle memory and furthering your confidence and skills.

Course Overview:
• Supervised range time with qualified instructor
• Working on fundamentals of safe shooting
• Becoming more comfortable and confident with a firearm

Requirements:
• Completion of NSSF 1st Shots or similar course
• Bring your own firearm, or rent one at our range counter for free
• Ammo (available for purchase at range counter)
• Eye and ear protection (available for purchase at range counter)

AR-15 LEVEL II

This four-hour course is designed as the follow-up course to Intro to the AR-15 Sporting Rifle. The basic shooting proficiency acquired in the level 1 class is just a starting point. If you plan on using your rifle for hunting, competition, or self-defense, you will need additional training.

Course Overview:
• Reloads & exchanges
• Immediate action
• Use of sling
• Safety circle
• Flash sight picture
• Presentation from low ready
• Controlled pairs
• Dry fire activities

Requirements:
Must be capable of moderate exercise, lifting, bending, and kneeling
• Must be able to fully operate all features of firearm being used for training
• 2 magazines
• 1- or 2-point sling
• 200 rounds of ammunition (no aluminum or steel casings)

DEFENSIVE SHOTGUN

This course is designed as the follow up course to the Defensive Shotgun Level 1. The basic shooting proficiency acquired in the level 1 class is just a starting point. If you plan on using your shotgun for self-defense or competition shooting, you will need additional training.

• Combat reloads & topping off
• Immediate action
• Use of sling
• Safety circle
• Flash sight picture
• Presentation from low ready
• Controlled pairs
• Slug shooting
• Mixed loading
• Dry fire activities

Requirements:
• Must be capable of moderate exercise, lifting, bending, and kneeling
• Must have pump action or semi-automatic shotgun an 18” – 21” smooth bore barrel chambered in 12 or 20 gauge
• 1- or 2-point sling
• 50 rounds of 00 buckshot
• 20 rounds of Slug ammunition

Maximum 10 students per class

REACTIVE POINT SHOOTING

This class will explain what your body will do automatically because of extreme stress. Due to this automatic response, many of your fine motor skills needed for accurate fire are difficult if not impossible to employ. Reactive Point Shooting is a technique that when performed correctly allows combat accuracy through muscle memory without the use of traditional sighted fire. This class will present and practice the knowledge, skills, and abilities to utilize Reactive Point Shooting as an effective shooting technique.

Course Overview:
• Firearm safety
• Your body’s response in a stressful situation
• Why Reactive Point Shooting
• Technique
• Live fire drills to build muscle memory
• Final shots to determine accuracy range

Requirements:
• All students must be capable of moderate exercise, lifting, bending, and kneeling.
• Must be able to fully operate all features of the firearm they will be using AND have a strong side hip holster with weapon retention for that firearm.
• At least 2 magazines or 2 speed loaders are recommended.
• At least 150 rounds of ammunition for your firearm.

ADVANCED PISTOL TECHNIQUES FOR PERSONAL PROTECTION

In this class, we will discuss the Traditional sighted fire and basic handgun proficiency which may not meet the needs of all shooters. The ADVANCE TECHNIQUES FOR PERSONAL PROTECTION class will present a variety of advanced skills that will increase your ability to effectively employ your pistol for protection or competition.

Shooters will be challenged by the introduction of stress, shoot/no shoot scenarios, target identification, multiple targets, firing for effect and shoot/move shoot, emergency reloads, magazine exchanges, malfunction drills, and weak hand shooting.

  • High quality strong side hip holster with firearm retention.
  • At least 2 magazines or 2 speed loaders.

Maximum 5 students per class.

DEFENSIVE TACTICAL TRAINING SEMINAR / SELF DEFENSE

In this seminar, you will learn techniques for defending yourself against UNARMED attackers such as striking and grabbing.  You will also learn techniques to defend yourself against ARMED attackers with weapons such as knives, guns, sticks or any other type of weapon.  Situational techniques will also be discussed from different positions where there are multiple attackers with or without weapons. 

Student Requirements:

  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • No jewelry
  • Light physical activity is required
  • Seminar is open to all ages 16 years and up

LEGAL DEFENSE AND YOUR FIREARM

This 1-hour seminar is a great opportunity to ask questions and receive information from a prominent Chester County 2nd Amendment Firearm Attorney.  Learn valuable information regarding legal defense and what to do after a self-defense situation occurs.  Lonestar Firearm Defense.

LOW LIGHT & PISTOL TECHNIQUES

In this class, we will discuss the difficulties associated with accurately shooting a handgun in low light. Students will be presented with marksmanship and flashlight techniques designed to reduce these difficulties.

Students will practice these techniques on the firing range. Participants in this class will begin to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to utilize flashlights to improve their low-light handgun marksmanship.

  • Different grip styles
  • Different light styles and applications

Prerequisites & Specifications

  • Students must be capable of moderate exercise, lifting, bending, and kneeling.
  • At least 100 rounds of ammo, strong side holster, and a flashlight (either firearm mounted or hand-held).  Ammo can be purchased at the range counter
  • Students must be able to fully operate all features of the firearm they will be using for this training. Rentals are available from TSS.
  • Maximum 10 Students per Class.

Classes are subject to be postponed and rescheduled if a minimum number of students is not met. Please email training@tssretail.com with any questions. All students must have a valid form of identification (picture ID) to participate on the range.

Cancellation Policy: Students must contact Director of Training by calling 610-910-0114 no later than 3 days before the class is scheduled in order to receive a full refund. All requests for a refund made 3 days before the scheduled class will either receive store credit for the amount of the class or will be enrolled into the next available class. If on the day of the class you are a "no call no show" you will not receive store credit nor will you be enrolled into the next available class.
